Uzbekistan prosecutor’s office representatives visited IT Park

Yesterday, on February 19, 2020, representatives of the prosecutor’s office of Uzbekistan paid visit to IT Park and met with young people and talked on important issues related to IT development in our country.

Besides, IT Park staff willingly conducted a tour wherein they talked about the goals and objectives of the organization, its features, characteristics, and in general, about the IT field of Uzbekistan.

Following this meeting, both parties agreed on further cooperation and partnership in order to in-depth implement IT in Uzbekistan.

IT Park hosted strategic sessions with a professional business coach and consultant

January 28 to February 7, 2020, strategic sessions dedicated modernize the values, missions and visions of the organization have been arranged at IT Park, and they were conducted by Arthur Pak-Vartanyan, the famous Uzbek business trainer, a consultant on the business ideology formation, a successful entrepreneur, coordinator of the Korean business club ” Koryoin ”.

The main purpose of these strategic sessions was to strengthen the foundation of IT PARK, in particular values, mission and vision, for the fast growth and development of the organization.

IT Park hosted a ’Pizza Party’ for startup teams

On February 18, 2020, IT Park hosted a ‘’ Pizza Party’’ for startup teams chosen for the second wave incubation and acceleration programs.

It was arranged by IT Park staff in order to introduce startup teams with their future trackers and mentors.

As part of the event, participants of startup teams had a chance to get to know each other and chat with each other in a casual atmosphere, discuss interesting topics with IT Park staff and  trackers and mentors, plus, of course, enjoy the taste of pizza and drinks in good vibes.

IT Park CEO spoke at the International Conference

On February 18, 2020, IT Park CEO Farkhod Ibragimov spoke at an international conference on the topic titled: “A new stage of state and public construction in Uzbekistan, enhancing the role of the Parliament and representative bodies in the country democratic modernization.”

The forum is settled by the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in partnership with the “Yuksalish” National Movement and the representative office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia.

The members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and deputies of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of local governments, ministries and departments, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, civil society institutions, media representatives, heads of diplomatic missions, international and regional organizations, leading consulting companies of the Republic Uzbekistan have attended this event.

Farkhod Ibragimov noted that Uzbekistan possesses all the required resources to modernize our country and develop the digital economy, the information technology industry as a whole, and highlighted four important components related to this development: uninterrupted power and high-speed Internet, modern infrastructure, promising and competitive personnel, and no less important – the image and brand of Uzbekistan in the world as an IT country with great potential.

A particular attention was drawn to the activity’s IT Park performs. “We opened our first building on July 24, 2019, and from that date the doors of IT Park did not close for a single day. Our residents and employees can be in IT Park 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. This is quite important moment for IT professionals who are working in the time zones of other countries, ” – said Farkhod Ibragimov.

IT Park CEO also spoke specifically about tax and customs preferences for residents via those IT companies can scale up their operation and mitigate financial risks.

Wise School students visited IT Park

As part of the third initiative indicated in the five initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan targeted to evolve the interest in IT and computer literacy among young people living in our country, on February 14, 2020, over 100 students of the Wise School paid visit to IT Park.

IT Park staff politely encountered them and conveyed a tour along the IT Park, plus, talked about what IT Park accomplish, what are its main functions and introduced features related to it.

Schoolboys and schoolgirls get quite excited and showed high activity by asking various questions and taking interest in IT Park programs and projects.

Owing to today’s meeting, schoolchildren healthy food for thought about the future area of their activity, inspired to create startups and much excited in the IT field.

First-ever training from “Angry Birds” creator in Uzbekistan

[February 26, 2020] Inha University in Tashkent by IT Park support will host a training where the Marketing Director of the Rovio, Finnish company, apart one of the creators of the popular game Angry Birds, Peter Vesterbacka.

Its aimed to highlight coverage of the European IT industry and their working methods to improve the skills of domestic specialists, as well as the organization of a question and answer session.

This event gives everyone a great opportunity to personally meet and chat with one of the creators of one of the most popular games of past years. The history of the game “Angry Birds” began in 2009 and continued until 2016. More, in 2016, an animated film based on this game was released and in 2019 the second part of the film called “Angry Birds” was introduced and it gained millions of views. And all this would not have happened if it had not been for Peter Vesterbacka and his colleagues, who once had the grandiose idea of ​​creating a game in which the birds fight pigs.

Peter Vesterbacka himself, before coming to Rovio, for long time engaged in the IT industry, he is the founder of HP Mobile E-Services Bazaar and co-founder of MobileMonday, Edunation, Fun Academy, Lightneer, HP Bazaar, FinEst Bay Area, and Slush.

Mr. Vesterbacka in 2011 entered the ranking of “100 most influential people on the planet” according to TIME magazine, and in 2015  already in its top ten!

He is a esteemed adviser, an inspirational speaker, and in 2018, Mr. Vesterbacka also became a professor of innovation and entrepreneurship at Tongji University in Shanghai.

Startup Advice, a new IT Park service is ready for startups

IT Park in partnership with the Venture Investment Association will hold open door hours – “Startup Advice” on Tuesdays from 16:00 in the IT Park office. We welcome everyone to take this opportunity and personally chat with the management staff of our organization. In the meeting you will have the chance to present your startup and get valuable advice on making your idea smarter and implement it.

Much to our great regret, many startups scare to attend such events, turn to specialists and show-off their startups. The reasons for may be quite different: someone is afraid to be ridiculed, unappreciated, or simply unheard; someone is shy and scare to seem stupid.

Customs privileges for IT Park residents

One of the facilities given to residents of IT Park targeted to create additional conditions for their accelerated development are customs benefits.

According to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 10.01.2019 No. 17 “On measures to create a technological park of software products and information technologies”, benefits are applied to IT Park residents denoted by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 30.06.2017 No-UP-5099 “On measures to fundamentally improve the conditions for the development of the information technology industry in the republic”, in particular, exemption from customs duties (excluding customs duties) for imports for a period up to January 1, 2028 governmental needs of the equipment, component parts, attributes, components, technical documentation and software that is not manufactured in Uzbekistan.

In order to get customs privileges, a resident needs to independently compile a list of goods delivered (imported) into the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and add to the State Unitary Enterprise “Center for Comprehensive Expertise of Projects and Import Contracts under the Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan” (Center) for a multi-disciplinary examination.

Customs payments exemptions are subject to be applied from the date of obtaining the Center’s positive conclusion.

First time ever nationwide robotics contest” RoboTech” to take place in Uzbekistan

The IT Center under IT Park in partnership with “Revochain Technology” LLC, with the support of the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is ready to announce the launch of the first-ever robotics contest in Uzbekistan among students in schools titled “RoboTech”!

This contest is aimed to promote the development of creative activity and the popularization of engineering specialties among young people in the field of robotics; popularization of technical modeling among students of educational institutions; identification and support of talented and gifted youth, its integration to creative activity.

“RoboTech” itself will include three stages: district and city selection; regional selection; republican selection (final).

The winners of the district, city and regional selection will be identified within the scope of Intro contest, where each team must present the capabilities of their robot, as well as demonstrate its merits.

The intro stage consists of a story about the project and a demonstration of the robot and / or game situation (no more than 10 minutes); answering to questions of the jury members (max. 5 minutes); special task “X” wherein participants must write a program for their robot and specify the execution of a function that was not originally. The function that the robot must perform is set by the jury.

At the final stage to be arranged in June 2020, the 14 best teams from each region will participate, and go through one of three types of following competitions: “Sumo Robot”, “Line Follower”, “Freestyle”:

Sumo robot. as in the traditional Japanese sumo, opponents will need to fight, and the winner to be the one who manages to knock the opponent out of the ring.

This competition has its own “weight categories”:

Mega Sumo (20 x 20 cm, 3 kg)

Mini Sumo (10 x 10 cm, 500 g)

Micro Sumo (5 x 5 cm, 100 g)

Nano Sumo (2.5 x 2.5 cm, 25 g)

Humanoid Sumo (50 x 20cm, 3 kg)

Lego Sumo (15 x 15 cm, 1 kg)

Line Follower, in this competition, the robot will follow a black line on a white background. The winner will be the one who will be able to quickly reach the finish line.

Freestyle, in this category, participants can do everything to show the advantages of their robot.

Evaluation criteria are as follows: creative approach; relevance; science; quality of workmanship; complexity; Interest presentation quality; teamwork; ingenuity.

Winners will get:

1 place – payment of a tuition fee for study at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies + laptop;

2 place – laptop + LEGO mindstorm kit;

3 place – LEGO mindstorm kit.

The final of the competition will be held at a specialized school named after Al-Khwarizmi.

IT Park Deputy Director spoke to Plekhanov University students

Today, on February 10, 2020, IT Park Deputy Director on Innovation Abdulakhad Kuchkarov visited the branch of G. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Tashkent, where he made a presentation titling “Startup – the ecosystem in Uzbekistan” and spoke about the role of IT Park in development the field of information technologies in the nation.

In the meeting context being held at the university’s coworking center, a number of important issues had been discussed related to the importance of creating startups in Uzbekistan. Students showed great interest toward this topic, asked a lot of useful and interesting questions, and in general, showed themselves on a positive and active side.

Abdulakhad Kuchkarov also told students about the activities IT Park is accomplishing, startups that have passed the first wave of incubation and acceleration programs, effective and fruitful methods for becoming a successful startup in the realities of our country.
