«I’m thrilled by Uzbekistan and IT Park. I want to come here again» — Carmen Zita Lamagna

On 12 April 2022, a delegation from the American International University in Bangladesh (AIUB) arrived in Uzbekistan. Representatives of the University, led by a representative of the AIUB Board of Trustees, Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan from Dhaka, visited IT Park.

We got a chance to talk to the vice-rector of the university Dr. Carmen Zita Lamagna and find out about her impression of Uzbekistan and IT Park.

-Is it your first visit to Uzbekistan?

—Yes. We planned this trip last year but it did not work out. And, finally, here we are.

- What places did you like most in Uzbekistan?

— I liked everything I saw here. The only thing I regret is that we have so little time. You know, before the trip, my husband and I searched for information about Uzbekistan, and looked at what places are worth visiting in Tashkent.

There was one place that grabbed my attention. By looking at the Plov Center’s pictures on the Internet, I really wanted to try plov there.

In Bangladesh, we have biryani, quite similar to plov. The recipe, ingredients are the same. However, the way it is cooked here, in a huge outdoor boiler is indescribable.

- Have you had a chance to visit other cities of the country?

— Unfortunately not. Since this is our first visit to Uzbekistan, we have focused on the agenda. But we plan to come here again, and then we will definitely visit other cities. I really want to visit the magnificent Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. I want to see all these ancient monuments of architecture and culture.

It is a country with a rich history and culture, with ancient traditions that are harmoniously bound with modernity. Generally speaking, Uzbekistan is so different and multifaceted that you want to see everything.

- Did you like the capital city?

— Very much! Tashkent impressed me with its hospitality. I also note that the city is clean, immersed in greenery - pleased that there are many green areas, parks.

In Bangladesh, we have many rickshaws, scooters, cars - the roads are such a mess. But here, everything is in order.

- What are your impressions about IT Park?

— There are many advantages of this company that worth noting. I liked IT Park.

First off, I want to say about the logo and motto that says «START local & GO global». Perhaps, this is all you need to know about IT Park - the motto completely complies with the activity.

The company is very dynamic. For me, IT Park is associated with a bridge - helps to build a bridge from dream to reality. IT Park offers such opportunities for professionals and helps to build a business.

On the first day, we visited the construction complex. I cannot even find words to express my delight! How is it possible to construct such a huge building in two years?! Uzbekistan has amazing builders.

- You have visited many universities, which one grabbed your attention the most?

— All Universities impressed us, each one is unique in its own way. Most universities offer classical full-time education. Applicants must be school graduates (11 grades). I was particularly thrilled by the Astrum IT Academy where the concept of presenting the studied material is well thought out. Students learn materials faster, they have many opportunities to communicate on campus and it works effectively. I like this concept. I also liked the campus itself.

- What do you think about the collaboration with IT Park?

— We want to contribute to the development of the IT sector in Uzbekistan. The President of Uzbekistan is doing a lot for the development of the IT sector, it is so important, we like this approach.

We, the representatives of American International University Bangladesh, are here to help and guide. Now we see several areas in which we want to cooperate. We are planning to open a new export-oriented company before the end of this year to provide BPO and software development services.

In addition, we discussed the possibility of opening an IT academy in Uzbekistan this year and an IT university by 2023.

We will be back soon to discuss our projects and, surely to visit the ancient cities of Uzbekistan.
