A delegation from IT Park Uzbekistan, led by Maksudov Elyor, Startup and Investment Development Director, held negotiations with a delegation from Malaysia headed by Saat Shukri Embong, CEO of MIMOS, the national applied research center operating under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Malaysia.
MIMOS (Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems) serves as Malaysia’s national applied research institution in the field of information and communication technologies. Established in 1985, the center is dedicated to the development of strategic digital solutions and cutting-edge technologies aimed at transforming key sectors of the economy, including industry, healthcare, education, agriculture, and public administration. MIMOS actively collaborates with government authorities, universities, and industry partners to promote scientific advancements and foster innovation at both national and international levels.
During the meeting, representatives of IT Park delivered a comprehensive presentation on the technopark’s ecosystem, its infrastructure, and the favorable conditions offered to international companies seeking to establish operations in Uzbekistan. Particular attention was given to the extensive support measures available to foreign member companies, including full exemption from all types of taxes (such as VAT and corporate income tax), zero customs duties on imported equipment, as well as streamlined procedures for obtaining visas and work permits for foreign professionals.
The discussions also covered prospects for expanding into regional and international markets, the availability of a highly qualified IT talent pool, and the country’s robust digital infrastructure. MIMOS, in turn, expressed a keen interest in evaluating Uzbekistan’s potential as a technological hub within Central Asia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in establishing long-term cooperation and expressed their readiness to continue the dialogue with a view to identifying specific areas of collaboration and formulating joint initiatives.
