IT Park Uzbekistan Launches representative Office in Seoul, Strengthening Uzbek-Korean IT Business Alliance

Today marks a milestone in the deepening partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea with the official opening ceremony of an IT Park representative office in Seoul. Established through the Uzbek-Korean IT Business Alliance between IT Park Uzbekistan and the Korea Institute of International Industrial Cooperation (KIIIC), this office will enhance collaboration by connecting Uzbekistan’s tech ecosystem with South Korean investors and technology experts.

“The Korean market is rich in expertise within the technology sector, particularly in AI, GameDev and cloud technologies. These specialties are in high demand, and Uzbekistan is eager to train high-level specialists in these areas for Korean companies. Beyond outsourcing and IT services, we aim to become a strategic partner to Korean tech enterprises.

The opening of our office in Korea marks a significant milestone for IT Park—an achievement we could hardly have envisioned seven years ago, before the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a decree dedicated to the development of the IT sector. We’re confident that this office will accelerate collaboration between our nations’ markets, benefiting both ecosystems. The IT Park Representative Office is a seed planted today, set to flourish and become a lasting platform for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea,” highlighted Jakhongir Radjabov.

This alliance builds on the strategic agreement signed between IT Park and KIIIC on June 27, 2024, which focuses on attracting South Korean IT companies to Uzbekistan. With emphasis on software development, fintech, and digital public services, the partnership supports the establishment of representative offices in both countries. These offices will boost IT exports from Uzbekistan to Korea, facilitate corporate collaboration, and position Uzbekistan as a high-potential outsourcing destination.

Jong Ok Rae expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “We’re committed to strengthening bilateral relations by increasing the frequency of events and networking opportunities. KIIIC will act as a bridge, connecting IT Park with over 1,000 business associations in Korea and fostering cross-sector partnerships. Through this, several mini-alliances within the Uzbek-Korean IT Business Alliance will emerge across areas such as GameDev, SmartPharm, Cloud, and more.

This connection will bring our markets closer together and drive innovation and growth within our tech ecosystem.”

The newly launched Seoul office complements the Korean representative office opened in Tashkent in July 2024, offering South Korean businesses a gateway to Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing tech market. Together, these offices aim to drive joint projects, increase IT service exports, and unlock new avenues for technological innovation and outsourcing.

This development highlights South Korea’s increasing interest in Uzbekistan as a premier global IT hub. By the end of Q3 2024, Uzbek IT service exports to Korea demonstrated a 4.6-fold growth. Over the past year, more than ten joint Uzbek-Korean events have taken place, including three Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conferences in Seoul, underscoring the strong momentum of this collaboration.

The opening of the IT Park representative office in Seoul marks an important step in solidifying economic and technological ties between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
