Opening of a new Plug and Play office

On May 6, 2023, the opening ceremony of the new Plug and Play office was held at UzExpoCenter.

The event was attended by Plug and Play tech Center partner Sasha Karimpur, co-founder and director of Plug and Play Uzbekistan Felix Lammers, and among the founding partners – Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, First Deputy Director of IT Park Abdulahad Kuchkarov, Deputy Director of IT Park for Innovation Jahongir Rajabov, as well as foreign partners such as Raiffeisen Bank.

The event was attended by over 300 entrepreneurs, investors, experts and decision makers.

The Minister of Digital Development Sherzod Shermatov delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that opening an office in Uzbekistan will help create more opportunities for local corporations and agencies, as well as accelerate the development of start-ups in the country.

“We are pleased that Plug and Play opened its office in Tashkent today. Plug and Play is a global innovation platform that organizes various acceleration programs for startups, connects them with venture capital funds and corporations. They helped 35 start-ups from around the world become unicorn companies.

We believe that with the help of Plug and Play, startups from Uzbekistan will achieve high results, enter international markets, attract investments and become the first unicorns of our country”.

The event included panel discussions on FinTech and InsureTech, moderated by Alfredo Gómez Soria, Senior FinTech Partnership Manager in Frankfurt, and Xenia Poppe, Director of Insurtech in Munich.

Felix Lammers, co-founder and director of Plug and Play Uzbekistan, also gave a speech:
