Tech Review: GPTbot limitations, Google's new project and others

The 21st century is inextricably linked with technology. Every day in this industry there are interesting events that deserve attention. We continue to share with you the most relevant news from the world of technology.

1. Now web developers have the ability to restrict the access of the OpenAI GPTBot bot to their resources

This means that OpenAI will no longer be able to use content from these sites to train its models.

The official OpenAI website has published instructions on how to prevent a bot from accessing content. It is enough to make the corresponding changes to the robots.txt file. You can also configure more flexible access such as allowing the bot to access only certain site directories.

2. Google introduced a new project called Project IDX, a cloud-based integrated development environment (IDE), designed to create mobile and web applications

The platform supports transferring projects from GitHub so that developers can quickly switch to the new IDE. You can start developing a new project using ready-made templates, and they must be pre-run in a browser using an emulator. Web app previews are currently available, but will be available soon on Android and iOS devices.

So far, Google has released a test version of Project IDX. It can be accessed through the waiting list. Registration is available on the product website.

3. Stability AI introduced a new system called Stable Code, which is based on the LLM neural network and is designed to generate program code

The company believes that this solution will be a useful tool for developers in their daily work, as well as for learning new technologies.

According to company representatives, the neural network is able to generate very large code snippets compared to other similar models. For example, the generated code could be as large as five Python files.

4. Zoom Video Communications has updated its Zoom Terms of Use

Users now have to consent to the transfer of their data for training artificial intelligence models. All rights to this data will remain only with Zoom.

Under the new rules, Zoom has the right to modify, distribute, process and use user data for various purposes in accordance with the law.

This rule change will allow Zoom to use user-generated information to train its machine models and AI. However, the new rules do not eliminate the collection and use of customer data.

The company clarifies that this applies to data generated by Zoom, such as telemetry data, performance information, diagnostic data, and others, but does not include user content.

5. Cooler Master introduced a cooling system for smartphones Cryo Phone Cooler

The device is suitable for all smartphones up to 90 mm. The service life of the fan reaches 40 thousand hours. The device itself is made of aluminum, plastic and rubber. It also has a dedicated app for iOS and Android phones. It can be used to control fan speed and backlight. The data is synchronized with the device via Bluetooth.

In the US, Cryo Phone Cooler will be available from August 10 for $30. The manufacturer provides a two-year warranty.
