On December 24-26 this year, the INHA University in Tashkent hosted the "Voice Ai Challenge Uzbekistan" hackathon, organized by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, IT Park, UNDP in Uzbekistan, with the support of INHA University in Tashkent, Research Institute development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as KASH АPP and TTS.UZ.
First Deputy Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Oleg Andreevich Pekos, Rector of INHA University Jalalov Muzafar Mukhitdinovich, as well as Deputy Director of IT Park for Innovative Development Radjabov Jahangir Ikhtiyarovich made a speech at the opening of the event.
Next, the representatives of IT Park and UNDP awarded the winners of the Mozilla Common Voice competition, which was held in two directions “Speakers” and “Listeners”.
* Mozilla Common Voice is a project to collect voice data in the Uzbek language and create an open database. The goal of the project is to make voice recognition technology available to everyone.
The winners of the “Speakers” competition are:
- Shokhsanam Dzhurayeva - Tashkent city;
- Akbarbek Sadullayev - Tashkent city;
- Ulugbek Ochilboyev - Samarkand region;
- Sanzharbek Sultonov - Syrdarya region;
The winners of the “Listeners” competition are:
- Faizullo Nematillayev - Fergana region;
- Behruz Samadjanov - Tashkent city;
- Shakhrillo Nusratov - Bukhara region;
- Asadbek Mukhammadzhonov - Tashkent region;
- Asadbek Rustamov - Khorezm region;
The main speakers of the hackathon were Adkham Kuchkarov, head of the UNDP laboratory accelerator in Uzbekistan, Aziz Atabekov, director of the Research Institute for the Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, as well as project manager of KASH APP and community manager of Uzbekvoice.ai Abbosjon Kudratov.
The main members of the jury were Rustamkhuzha Alavutdinov, chief specialist of the UZINFOCOM artificial intelligence department, Bakhtiyor Khasanov, founder and head of “Kash App”, Ruslan Yuldashev, technical director of the online educational platform ModMe.uz, and Erkin Isoyev, general director of TTS Uzbekistan, as well as head of the technology development department artificial intelligence in the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Parviz Nasrullayev.
During the event, various sessions were held, voice data in the Uzbek language were provided and comprehensive assistance was provided by the mentors of the event to the participants of the hackathon. More than 300 participants were registered in the hackathon, who formed 39 teams, and 28 teams reached the final.
Hackathon winners:
1st place: the “Sigma” team with the “Xabarchi” project - an aggregator of news in the Uzbek language.

The winners of the competition were awarded valuable prizes in the form of laptops, tablets, phones and certificates from the organizers of the event. And also all the participants of the competition were awarded with certificates and gifts in the form of T-shirts from the organizers of the event.
