Uzbekistan and Tatarstan strengthen cooperation in the IT sector

On December 9, a delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan led by Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaikhutdinov paid a working visit to IT Park Uzbekistan.

Deputy General Director of Innopolis SEZ JSC Oleg Protopopov, Director of ANO HE Innopolis University Kirill Semenikhin and Director's Advisor Ekaterina Koneva, General Director of Tattelecom JSC Airat Nurutdinov and many others attended the meeting.

COO of IT Park Alisher Elmuradov, COO for International Relations Amalia Ergasheva, Deputy COO for Digital Education Development Makhliyo Muksinova and other representatives of the organization welcomed the guests.

Alisher Elmuradov spoke about the success of IT Park, in particular, that by now 1000 companies have become residents of IT Park, where over 100 are operating with foreign capital.

The guests were also informed of the steps done by the republic to foster an ecosystem for startups, IT education, and IT entrepreneurship. A lot of focus was placed on the presentation's potential for Uzbekistan to train ICT professionals and the growth of industries like fintech and e-government.

During the dialogue, the participants discussed the prospects for further strengthening cooperation between the republics, including on building up cooperation and promoting projects in the field of information technology, organizing joint educational courses and programs to train qualified IT specialists, as well as the exit of residents of Innopolis SEZ JSC to market of Uzbekistan.

Thus, representatives of Innopolis University spoke about their programs of accelerated additional education for IT specialists in various areas (robotic technologies, software testing basics, enterprise full stack development in JavaScript using React technologies, etc.), and also presented methodologies training of trainers and teachers in the direction of IT. In addition, representatives of JSC "SEZ Innopolis" presented specialized programs for the development of startups and the training of business angels.

The dialogue participants also discussed cooperation on the training of WorldSkills teams in robotics.

On December 10, a delegation of Tatarstan visited the Jizzakh region of the republic in order to get acquainted with the conditions for IT companies located in the regions of Uzbekistan.

The guests got acquainted with the regional division of IT Park. Employees of the Jizzakh branch gave the guests a tour of the office of the organization and told about the activities of IT Park, the prospects of the IT sector, as well as the projects that the organization is implementing.

After that, a meeting was held with the khokim of the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ergash Saliev. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for further development of cooperation in the field of ICT, in particular, in matters of training qualified personnel.

As part of a trip to the Jizzakh region, the delegation also visited a branch of the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University (KFU) in order to get acquainted with the progress of the university.

The branch in Jizzakh is the first such foreign project of Kazan Federal University. It was implemented with the support of the leadership of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, representatives of the Tatarstan delegation noted the positive dynamics in the development of the ICT sector in Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation further in the IT sector, and especially in building up the human resources potential of both republics.
