To find out about an organization, you need to get to know the people who work there. The development and success of the enterprise depends on them.
In the column “Faces of IT Park” we tell the stories of different employees, and today the heroine is Komolakhon Ruzmetova, the Chief Manager in the resident support department, who began her career as an intern.
Komolakhon is 22 years old. She graduated from the Medical college named after P.F.Borovsky, and then entered the Uzbek State University of World Languages (UzSUWL). Now she is studying at TUIT in the direction of “Telecommunication Technologies”.
She began her career in IT Park in 2020. As Komolakhon recalls, everything was decided by chance.
“My path into the IT industry began unexpectedly for me. In 2020, our group at UzSUWL was sent to a summer program in IT Park. At the time, I had no idea how this step would change my life. At IT Park, we, 25 students, went through several stages of testing and interviews. However, according to their results, they decided to choose me and my groupmate as those who scored the highest score. We were enrolled for an internship at the IT Park startup ecosystem development department. Here, under the guidance of a highly qualified specialist Farrukh Maksumov, I mastered all the subtleties of the system. Thanks to his support, I managed to become a project manager for the courses “IT-Tadbirkor”, “E-commerce”, as well as the game development incubator project “Gamedev Goethe”. I also had the opportunity to work on the Coursera in Uzbekistan program, the Seedstars World Competition 2020/21 and other projects. Additionally, I was entrusted with the work of the IT Park brand ambassador at UzSUWL, and then I was officially hired at IT Park”.
After some time, Komolakhon was appointed to the position of manager for working with IT companies.
“I was so fascinated by this area that I, being a 3-year student of UzSUWL, passed the exams for the bachelorʼs degree of TUIT, where I am studying now in the direction of “Telecommunication Technologies”. I am very proud of my profession, the field in which I came, because I believe that the future belongs to information technology”.
Now Komolakhon holds the position of General Manager at the IT Park Resident Support Department. Her job responsibilities include working with IT Park resident companies, the number of which currently exceeds 1200.
IT companies that have obtained resident status can contact the resident support department for advice, with questions such as taxation, working with banks, government agencies, and so on. In addition to working with requests, Komolakhon organizes meetings and events, as well as promotes the services and goods of resident companies in the foreign and domestic markets.
Why IT Park?
For the past three years, she has been working tirelessly for the benefit of IT Park, making a significant contribution to the development of the organization. At first, Komolakhon recalls, there were some difficulties, but this only strengthened her determination to grow in this direction. To overcome difficulties and move on, she continues, it is important to have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and develop, as well as seek support and help from colleagues and other professionals in the field.
“Of course, difficulties are inherent in each specific profession, but on the other hand, these difficulties and challenges provide an opportunity for growth and development, both professional and personal. I am happy to be a part of such a large-scale technology community, very happy with my choice and proud to work at IT Park”.
According to the heroine of the column, this is a place where you can learn, grow and develop, as well as contribute to the development of the industry and society as a whole, even despite your age.
“The first thing that attracted me to IT Park was the opportunities for professional growth and development for young people. I work with real professionals and learn a lot from them. IT Park is a place where I can implement my ideas. I am pleased that the organization is developing more and more actively every day, and it is even more joyful to know that I am part of this change. Young and creative employees who offer ideas and implement them are always welcome here. This is the best place for development!”
Komolakhon loves her job very much and values his team.
“As our CEO Farkhad Zairovich says, IT Park is not a job, but a lifestyle, and I absolutely agree with him. This is where we spend most of our time and our team has become a close-knit family. When people get satisfaction from their work and from working in a team, the company is doomed to success”.
What do you think about the IT sphere of Uzbekistan?
According to her, the IT sphere of Uzbekistan has great potential and high progress is expected in this area in the near future. Today, more and more companies are paying attention to Uzbekistan as a promising and attractive market for doing business in the field of IT.
One of the attractive factors for IT companies, she notes, was the opportunity to become a resident of IT Park. The residency program provides them with tax benefits, namely, exemption from all taxes except income tax (at a reduced rate of 7.5% instead of 12%), customs benefits and such preferences as the payment of dividends to their foreign founders and wages to foreign specialists in foreign currency, to employ foreign specialists to work without obtaining confirmation of the right to exercise employment and many others.
“I am proud that IT Park continues to play an important role in the development of information technology in Uzbekistan, and I am confident that with our efforts and support from the government, we will be able to ensure further progress in this area”.
Uzbekistan, continues Komolakhon, is actively working to create a favorable ecosystem for the development of the IT sphere, providing support for start-ups, innovative projects and research in this area.
“I would also like to note that the Ministry of Digital Technologies, jointly with IT Park, pays great attention to creating favorable conditions for involving young people in the IT field, supporting IT Centers and educational institutions. For example, in cooperation with the EPAM company, the first distance university was opened in our country. Also, projects have been launched to compensate young people for fees for obtaining international IT certificates. All this indicates that our country is interested in involving all Uzbeks who are interested in IT in the IT sphere. I have no doubts about the dynamic development of this industry in our country, where large-scale projects are being implemented in all areas”.
Tell us about your hobbies and dreams
Considering that at the moment Komolakhon combines work with study, she does not always have free time, however, whenever possible, she tries to devote time for personal growth and self-education.
“I try to read books and articles on topics related to my profession and social life. I enjoy attending conferences and events where I can connect with interesting people and learn new things for myself”.
Additionally, she likes to spend time in nature, play sports and other outdoor activities. She also emphasized spending time together with family and friends.
“The most important thing for me is the time spent with family and friends. I really appreciate every moment that I can spend with them. We often go out of town together, and also hold events for the whole family at home and invite all relatives. This is a good opportunity to rally relatives”.
