Faces of IT Park: Madina Musurmankulova’s career ladder from intern to supervisor

Any enterprise first of is all about a person and his soul. In order to know what an organization it is, one needs to know about the people who work there. That is why IT Park launched the “IT Park Faces” column, where its employees share their thoughts their career path, interests and hobbies.

Digital Transformation Department supervisor Madina Musurmankulova is our next guest on spotlight.

Madina is 23 years old. She graduated from the Tashkent University of Information Technologies with a degree in computer engineering. She started working at IT Park in February 2020 as an intern.

“At the end of 2019, when I was a second-year student, I realized that I really want to get a job in parallel with my studies, like my peers, in order to get to know more about the sphere. Since I had no experience and proper understanding of my field, I had no idea where to go. After consulting with my brother, who at that time worked in a company that was a resident of IT Park, I called the IT Park and asked about job vacancies. After 1-2 months, I was invited for an interview, they said they would clarify whether interns were needed in the departments.”

A few days later, Madina was invited for a second interview, and in February 2020, she got an internship at the startup ecosystem development department, where she nowadays works.

Now Madina's responsibilities include managing the digital transformation department, where wide-scale projects as Incubation Centers, annual hackathons on Artificial Intelligence, Open Data Challenge, etc., the annual international competition Entrepreneurship World Cup and others are realized. In addition, Madina is also responsible for working with the regions to develop the regional startup ecosystem within the state.

“I also took part in measures to transform general education schools into specialized IT schools. My team and I organized the Republican Olympiad among schoolchildren in IT pentathlon and informatics.”

Why did you choose IT Park?

For the past three years, Madina has been making every effort for the benefit of IT Park. At first, Madina recalls, there were some difficulties, but this only strengthened her determination to grow in this direction.

“Difficulties happen always and everywhere. We have always come up with solution for difficult moments collectively and with the help of mentors. As for the difficulties associated with work, yes, at the initial stage there were many misunderstandings with relatives due to the workload on projects, or because of working on weekends. But as soon as my family saw how much dedication I put in the work, how happy I was to become part of such a wide-scale organization, and they started to support me.”

Madina is fond of her job and her team.

“First of all, I love my job because it gives me the opportunity to work with great mentors, in a friendly and fun team. For me, this is not just a job, but rather a way to learn something new every day, the inspiration that I get from communicating with participants and mentors of various programs.”

What do you think about the IT sector of Uzbekistan?

The IT sector, according to Madina, is the most promising in Uzbekistan. She is sure that this sector will help bring even greater fame to the country.

“All over the world, Uzbekistan is known as a country with a great history, rich culture and delicious cuisine. Now we have another opportunity to name ourselves as a new IT hub and a country with advanced technologies. In recent years, Uzbekistan has made serious steps in the development of the ICT sector, and this is just the beginning.”

“That’s in many ways is the efforts of IT Park, since the organization is engaged in improving the IT culture in the state”, Madina continues.

“I am thrilled that the government initiated establishing such an organization in Uzbekistan. Previously, almost nothing was known about the local IT sector, but now the major players in the world are cooperating with us, and among the countries of Central Asia, Uzbekistan has become a leader in the sector.”

Most importantly, Madina notes, IT Park does not stop in achieved results so far. Employees of the organization continue to contribute to development, which means that IT Park and Uzbekistan in general will be known in every corner of the planet.

Tell us about your hobbies and dreams

Madina has a lot of hobbies, so she cannot name just one particular thing.

“I don’t always have a lot of free time, but if I manage to have a few hours, I devote them mainly to self-development. I take advanced training courses, read books related to startups and business, follow the news about startups in the world. I do not forget about outdoor activities, I like to walk in the fresh air, hiking in the mountains.”

She also likes to spend her free time with her sister.

“I take joy in communicating with young people. They always inspire me; I get positive vibes by talking to them. This is another reason why I chose IT Park. IT Park is not just an organization, it is a huge united family that will always support your ideas, and makes sure these ideas become a reality!”
