Indian IT companies choose Uzbekistan as a hub to extend cooperation with CIS countries

Within the scope of strengthening bilateral partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of India in the field of information and communication technologies and software products, during November 18-23, 2019, a delegation of the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the IT Park paid visit to the Republic of India.

Our delegation participated in the largest annual technology summit held in city of Bangalore, “Bengaluru Tech Summit 2019”, arranged by the Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology of the Karnataka State Government (80 million people), the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), and the Software Parks Society India Technologies (STPI).

“Bengaluru Tech Summit” is one of the largest annual summits hosting a conference and exhibition in the field of digital technology. The conference is attended by over 300,000 delegates and more than 4,500 visitors from abroad countries. The exhibition attracts more than 200 exhibitors from the field of information technology and more than 150 exhibitors from the field of biotechnology.

At the Summit, a meeting was arranged with the Chief Minister of the State of Karnataka B.S. Unitrappa. The Chief Minister was acquainted with the ongoing joint work in the Republic of Uzbekistan to improve the ecosystem of startups, created conditions for IT companies and the first IT Park in our country. He accepted the invitation of the Uzbek side to visit Uzbekistan and expressed interest in further cooperation.

Meanwhile, during the Karnataka visit, the issue of attracting Indian companies to develop the outsourcing of software and IT services in Uzbekistan was highly considered, and meetings were organized with such companies as “Tata Cosultancy Services”, “Genpact”, “STPI” and lots of others.

Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) is an Indian multinational company providing services in the field of information technology, IT consulting and IT solutions for business, which employs more than 330 thousand people. The company’s annual turnover is more than 15.5 billion US dollars.


Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is a company created in 1991 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India to promote, promote and stimulate software exports from India. STPI is a government agency, provider of online services and incubation programs. STPI is present throughout the country, namely in 59 cities in India. The organization has 57 parks throughout India. The total number of IT industries under STPI is more than 4000 companies. The total volume of IT exports is 176 billion US dollars. The total number of IT professionals working under the STPI exceeds 4 million.

Plus, our delegation visited and studied IT infrastructures created by the largest Singapore-based development company “CapitaLand” for the activities of IT and software companies, the experience of which is expected and will be applied to expand the activities of IT Park.

In Ahmadabad city located Gujarat state, meetings with representatives of the Gujarat Indian Electronics and Software Association Gesia IT Association, iCreate International Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, Dev Information Technology Limited, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology of India, in Ahmedabad and etc have taken place.

As a result of the meetings with such organizations, memorandums were signed for the development of startup policies and incubation programs, the preparation of educational programs and advanced training of IT specialists in Uzbekistan, as well as the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint work to support startup projects, including the exchange with startup initiatives.

Following the results of this trip, the parties have come to the idea that Uzbekistan has significant potential and opportunities in the field of IT development in Central Asia and has the most loyal and suitable ecosystem for expanding the services of Indian companies in the field of IT and creating an Uzbek-Indian hub, from the point of view of fair legislation, the best tax and customs benefits, affordable labor, a large share of young people in the demographic environment, currency reform, newly created foreign universities, modern infrastructure, and but, thanks to the huge attention to the IT sector from the side of the President and the government of Uzbekistan.
