IT Park is reinforcing cooperation with DIFC

On February 14, 2024, a delegation from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, convened a meeting with Arif Amiri, the CEO of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and Mohammad Alblooshi, the Director of the DIFC Innovation Hub.

DIFC stands as a leading global financial center in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region. The organization boasts nearly two decades of expertise in facilitating trade and investment flows in the MEASA region, encompassing 72 countries with a collective population of approximately 3 billion people and a nominal GDP of around $8 trillion.

The primary objective of the meeting was to deliberate on strategic measures aimed at establishing the International Digital Technology Center “Enterprise Uzbekistan”. This center epitomizes a special zone offering conducive conditions for the production of digital technology products within the IT Park territory.

The “Enterprise Uzbekistan” Center will provide a distinctive environment for technology companies, incorporating a regulatory sandbox for innovative projects, protection of intellectual property and personal data, along with comprehensive government and banking services.

Moreover, the center will offer significant support in matters related to labor, customs, and tax regulations, as well as the resolution of commercial and civil disputes, thus fostering a conducive environment for the advancement of digital technologies and outsourcing.

Representatives from DIFC commended the efforts made in this direction and Uzbekistan’s ambition to emerge as a new hub for IT outsourcing.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to strengthen the collaboration between IT Park and DIFC. The plans entail knowledge sharing, and inviting DIFC member companies to establish representative offices in Uzbekistan for conducting global business through the republic.
