On February 11, 2022, the consulting group of Korea International Cooperation Agency KOICA visited IT Park.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the KOICA Representative Office in Uzbekistan Ms. Hyun Young Jo, Managing Director of the Gyeoungbuk Technopark Kim Yang Jin, Director of Korea Technopark Association Jong Szyn, Manager of the Korea Technopark Association (Korea Technopark Association) Kwon Yoon Jong, and Deputy Director of Dain Leaders (Dain Leadrs Co. Ltd.) Lim Jin Ho.
The meeting was also attended by IT Park Director Farhod Ibragimov, IT Park Deputy Director Abdulahad Kuchkarov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the plan for the implementation of the project “Forming the foundations of sustainable development and increasing the potential of the IT Park of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and further steps.
It should be noted that for the entire period of the delegation's stay, working meetings are planned in IT Park in order to ensure the timely and high-quality implementation of all areas of the project.
In addition, during his visit, the following meetings and visits are planned:
- IT Park branch in the city of Jizzakh and holding meetings;
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
- Ministry for the development of information technologies and communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- innovative technopark “Yashnabad”;
- a private start-up support organization “YE Generator”.
Recall that at the end of last year, namely on December 16, 2021, as part of a working visit to the city of Seoul, South Korea, a meeting was held between the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov and the Deputy President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Im Jeong Hee. The meeting was also attended by the director of IT Park Farhod Ibragimov and others.
The leadership of KOICA and IT Park held negotiations as part of laying the foundations for sustainable prosperity and increasing the potential of IT Park. During the meeting, the Protocol of Discussion on the project “Forming the Foundations of Sustainable Development and Increasing the Potential of IT Park of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was also signed.
In accordance with this, a grant of 4.5 million US dollars will be allocated by KOICA.
The implementation of this project will allow:
1. Increase the efficiency of IT Park as an organization for the implementation of the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy and contribution to the development of IT and start-up industry in Uzbekistan;
2. Update and improve the computer equipment and network infrastructure of the central office of IT Park, including server equipment in accordance with the expansion of the functions and development of IT Park in the regions;
3. Improve digital literacy and IT-skills among ICT specialists from all regions of Uzbekistan by organizing trainings and educational events in IT Park with the support of Korean specialists;
4. Improve qualifications by conducting highly effective trainings to develop managerial skills in the field of ICT, as well as training and internships in South Korea;
5. Establish cooperation between IT Park residents and leading Korean IT-companies to optimize costs and compete in foreign markets through technology transfer, development of joint software products and outsourcing of IT-services.
