“mGovAward” winners from around the world: what startups are successfully implemented in other countries?

As part of the “mGovAward” competition, we are launching a new column in which we will talk about startups that win the “mGovAward” competition in other countries.  We believe that this will help you to be inspired by ideas and learn from experience for the implementation of your own projects.

Today we will tell you about the project of the winner of the “mGovAward” in 2019, in the category "Introduction of new technologies".  The project is called “GP at Hand” and was implemented by “Babylon Health”.

In the beginning, “GP at Hand” was a platform for online consultations with doctors.  Using the platform, it was possible to schedule video calls with doctors and send photos describing symptoms.

But today, from a small platform, the company's developers have been able to turn it into a whole medical application available for general use throughout the UK.

Users can seek medical advice through an advanced AI chatbot, describe symptoms in detail, and receive a symptom-based diagnosis.  In 40% of cases, people begin the treatment process on their own, without waiting for a doctor's response.

The application has 4 main functions:

- online consultation with doctors via videoconference;

- an interactive chatbot that, based on the answers to questions, analyzes the user's state and gives advice on the next steps;

- appointment of Face-to-Face meetings with doctors;

- online prescription dispensing: the application automatically sends the prescription to a pharmacy located nearby.

The application is implemented in the UK National Health Service and provides services to the public free of charge.
