Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with New York City Mayor Eric Adams to hold wide-ranging discussions on the digital economy, remote employment, data centers, talent development, and outsourcing opportunities.
At the outset, an IT Park presentation was delivered, outlining Uzbekistan’s efforts to build a modern digital ecosystem. The Minister also provided detailed information on national reforms, future plans, and the results already achieved. As part of the visit, the operations of UZSOC and the Single Integrator UZINFOCOM were introduced.
During the conversation, the favorable investment environment created for new businesses in Uzbekistan and the existing tax incentives were also highlighted. It was noted that the country’s population, which grows by more than one million people annually, makes the improvement of IT education and the preparation of qualified specialists a strategic priority.
The conversation underscored that the pandemic accelerated global remote-work trends and automation, creating new economic opportunities for Uzbekistan. The widespread knowledge of English, Russian, Arabic, German, Korean, and Japanese among Uzbekistan’s population was recognized as a major advantage for international companies seeking global service capabilities.
The meeting addressed cooperation opportunities in IT services, data centers, logistics systems, remote service delivery, and mobile platforms. It was emphasized that large-scale data centers are under construction in Uzbekistan and that collaboration with foreign companies in data exchange is expanding.
The parties also discussed the development of the startup ecosystem, improving conditions for investors, and strengthening Uzbekistan’s position as an emerging international innovation hub. Uzbekistan’s multicultural environment and rich heritage were noted as factors that promote creative thinking.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Shermatov and Mayor Eric Adams expressed readiness to pilot joint projects, introduce new technological solutions, and expand bilateral cooperation.
