On July 3, 2023, the IT Park Uzbekistan was visited by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Kim Hee Sang, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Ho In Su, the Director of the Korean-Uzbek Center for Korean Development, Koh Taek Jin, the Director of KOTRA, U San Min, and the Director of KOICA, Pak Sun Jin.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss future cooperation with IT Park and to familiarize themselves with Uzbekistan's ICT direction.
The guests were greeted by the Executive Director of IT Park, Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, the Deputy General Director of IT Park, Makhliyo Muksinova, the Head of the Investment and International Relations Department, Nigora Mirdjalilova, and the Chief Manager of the Investment and International Relations Department, Akbar Mustafaev.
Abdulakhad Kuchkarov welcomed the participants and in his opening remarks, he informed the guests about the activities of IT Park, highlighting its goals and achievements.
Mr. Kim Hi Sang noted that the information technology sector in Uzbekistan has been rapidly developing in recent years. He also expressed interest in regional development issues.
Abdulakhad Kuchkarov informed the guests about the development of infrastructure, the residents of IT Park, and the activities of IT centers in the regions. He also mentioned various types of companies and projects being developed not only in Tashkent but also in the regions. An overview of the BPO sector in Uzbekistan was presented.
Next, Mr. Kim Hi Sang introduced Mr. U San Min, the Director of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), to IT Park. During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation between IT Park and KOTRA in the field of ICT were discussed.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the IT Park infrastructure and the presentation of a commemorative gift. In the future, IT Park hopes to establish cooperation with the Korean Embassy and organize several joint projects, including in the field of information technology.
