ICT Minister Sherzod Shermatov launched a new competition and spoke about the current state of the IT sphere in Uzbekistan

On December 20, 2021, the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov delivered a speech at the Tashkent City Congress Hall within the framework of the “Youth Forum 2021” on the topic “Opportunities in the IT sphere for the future of youth”.




"Youth Forum 2021" is a number of major events on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the main goal of which is to create space for the implementation of the scientific and creative potential of the young generation by creating new projects aimed at developing the country.  The forum takes place from 18 to 25 December with the participation of young people and leading experts in various fields of activity.

During his speech, the Minister spoke about what IT is, where IT meets in everyday life, as well as about the types of directions in this area, the growing demand for IT products and services, as well as about the opportunities created by the state for IT specialists.

Sherzod Shermatov noted that IT is not difficult and not expensive, because all that is needed to start and master IT specializations is a computer and Internet access.  And in order to undergo training, it is not necessary to take expensive courses, since today there are many free sources, using which you can master the current professions in IT.




The minister said that one of such sources is the free platform "One Million Uzbek Coders" (uzbekcoders.uz), where you can take courses on frontend, fullstack, data analysis and andoid development.  He also cited as an example young IT specialists in Uzbekistan, who, at the age of 14-16, earn from 3 to 5 million soums per month, and young specialists, whose monthly salaries at 23-27 years old are from 1,000 to 8,000 US dollars and  above.


At the end of the speech, the Minister launched the “Story Contest”, within which 10 authors of the best stories will be able to win a grant for full training in IT Centers, and upon successful completion of their studies - get laptops and employment in IT companies.
