ICT Minister Sherzod Shermatov visited the resident of IT Park “EPAM”

On December 21, 2021, the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov visited an IT company, a resident of IT Park, “EPAM” in order to get acquainted with ways of providing support to the company from the state for development, as well as training more IT specialists and  increasing the number of personnel working for the export of IT services.

The meeting was also attended by IT Park Director Farhod Ibragimov, “EPAM Uzbekistan” director Renat Akhtyamov and others.

During the visit, the Minister noted that the number of school graduates last year was 650,000, but only about 30% of them entered universities.  It was found that today “EPAM” is actively involved in the training of IT specialists, especially testers and analysts, which will allow applicants who have not entered not to waste their time and start a career in the IT field.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed issues of providing support in the relocation of IT specialists, as well as simplifying and accelerating the provision of visas for IT Park residents.

Representatives of “EPAM”, in turn, said that they began to actively cooperate with schools and universities of Uzbekistan in terms of training IT specialists, including with the Al-Khorazmiy school, Amity University and TUIT.  To do this, they create “EPAM” laboratories within educational institutions.  So, today in the laboratories “Epam” at the University of Amity and TUIT there are already 20 people studying.

We emphasize that the company representatives noted the prospects in Uzbekistan to grow a pool of high-quality IT specialists with knowledge of the English language.  In just a year, the company “EPAM” trained about 100 specialists in Uzbekistan.
