IT Park Uzbekistan and Enterprise Singapore Strengthen Cooperation in ITES Export

On February 6, representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan convened a meeting with a delegation from Enterprise Singapore, led by Mr. Alan Yeo, Director for Europe and Central Asia. The discussion focused on the organization of visits to Singapore and participation of Enterprise Singapore in events held in Uzbekistan.

Why is this important?

Enterprise Singapore is an organization under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Government of Singapore. Established on April 1, 2018, the organization is dedicated to supporting the development of Singapore’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by enhancing their capabilities, fostering innovation, driving business transformation, and promoting international expansion. Enterprise Singapore plays a pivotal role in reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global trade and startup hub, while also serving as the national authority for standardization and accreditation.

Since 2022, IT Park Uzbekistan and Enterprise Singapore have maintained a partnership, actively engaging in initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of business opportunities in Uzbekistan and Singapore. The collaboration also supports Singaporean companies in establishing a presence in Uzbekistan.

Key Agreements

During the meeting, both parties explored various avenues for further collaboration, including the organization of joint events such as UOC Singapore, as well as the invitation of Singaporean companies to visit Uzbekistan. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the potential participation of Uzbek startups in the prestigious SWITCH event, contingent upon their successful selection through the Slingshot program.

Furthermore, representatives of IT Park and Enterprise Singapore agreed to exchange expertise on legislative initiatives and best practices within the framework of the Enterprise Uzbekistan launch.

Ms. Makhliyo Muksinova, Services Export Development Director at IT Park Uzbekistan, underscored the critical role of collaboration between IT Park and Enterprise Singapore in fostering the development of the IT-enabled services (ITES) sector. She also highlighted the significant advancements witnessed within Uzbekistan’s IT sector.

Mr. Alan Yeo commended Uzbekistan’s rapid progress in the IT sector, emphasizing the government’s resolute commitment to industry development. “When we first started working with IT Park in 2022, the landscape was markedly different from what it is today. With every visit, we observe positive transformations and the continued expansion of Uzbekistan’s IT ecosystem.”

The Singaporean delegation expressed optimism regarding the further consolidation of cooperation and continuing mutual support for companies entering the markets of Singapore and Uzbekistan.

Mr. Amir Mardiev, Advisor for the Enterprise Uzbekistan Project, emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening ties with Enterprise Singapore, acknowledging the structural parallels between the two organizations and the prospects for future collaboration.

The parties also discussed the planning of official visits to Singapore and the participation of Enterprise Singapore in key events in Uzbekistan. Singaporean representatives expressed their willingness to extend support in organizing these initiatives and facilitating the formation of a business delegation to visit Uzbekistan.

In reciprocation, IT Park Uzbekistan affirmed its readiness to host Singaporean delegates, providing opportunities for B2G and B2B engagements, site visits to regions, and introductions to member companies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of continued cooperation in fostering the development of the IT ecosystem and startup industry in both countries. This partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities for entrepreneurs while reinforcing economic ties between Uzbekistan and Singapore.
