Online festival on algorithmic programming and artificial intelligence RuCode

On August 31, 2020, starts the second educational festival on algorithmic programming and artificial intelligence RuCode, organized by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, leading universities in fifteen regions of Russia, The Foundation for support of physical technology schools using a grant from the President of Russia, provided by the presidential grants fund, as well as IT Park.

Three online courses have been prepared for the festival participants:

1. "The basics of C/C++ for competitive programming."

In the program: variables, conditional operators, loops, arrays, functions, complex data structures, bit operations, and number systems.

You can enroll in the course by following the link: https://stepik.org/course/64454

2. "Quickstart in sports programming"

In the program: basic algorithms, number theory, dynamic programming, graph theory.

Start of the course: August 31

3. "Quickstart in artificial intelligence"

Start of the course: August 31

The festival opens with two new online courses "Basics of C/C++ for sports programming" and "Quickstart in artificial intelligence." This part is given a month, after which everyone will be invited to participate in testing for selection for interactive, intensive programs in two areas: algorithmic programming and artificial intelligence. The final track in algorithmic programming will be the championship in a remote format. It will be held on October 4. The presentation of the best solutions for participants of artificial intelligence intensive courses will take place on October 3.

The festival is being developed and will be held with universities and partner organizations from Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Irkutsk, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Perm, Saratov, Chita, as well as Tomsk, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, and Tashkent.

"In the spring, we held the first RuCode festival and saw a lot of interest in the study of algorithms and artificial intelligence, including graduates and adults. The most adult participant at the festival last time was 50 years old. A strong component of RuCode is cooperation between colleagues from leading Russian universities, who together created a mix of different approaches to teaching, leaders of IT industry and government agencies, who shared current tasks and formulated a practical request, increasing the relevance of the competition", – says Alexey Maleev, Director of remote programs at MIPT and founder of Moscow Workshops.

In the spring of 2020, RuCode Festival brought together 13 thousand schoolchildren, students, and adults. At the first stage, they took a free online course, "Quickstart in sports programming," on the basics of algorithms. More than 1.5 thousand participants from 17 countries took part in the selection process for intensive courses. They were held in two tracks: separately on artificial intelligence and independently on sports programming. In the final, participants presented 25 best solutions to artificial intelligence problems in the format of online presentations. Additionally, more than 2000 participants competed in the track in algorithmic programming.

The courses are designed for high school students and junior students of technical specialties.
