UZ-NLP Challenge hackathon has completed in the capital city

On December 23-25, the Uz-NLP Challenge Artificial Intelligence Hackathon was held at Amity University in Tashkent, organized by the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, IT Park, the Research Institute for Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence and the Unified Integrator “UZINFOCOM”.

A hackathon is a time-limited competition in which teams need to create a product prototype or start-up project within a certain time frame. This hackathon was organized as part of activities to develop artificial intelligence among young people, including already held hackathons: Voice AI Challenge and Computer Vision Challenge.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Jamshid Egamberdiev, Deputy Director of IT Park Makhliyo Muksinova, Rector of Inha University in Tashkent Muzaffar Jalalov, Rector of Amity University in Tashkent Bobur Abdullaev, and Deputy Director of “UZINFOCOM” Anvar Mansurov.

The event was dedicated to artificial intelligence. The participants were required to create an application, bot, program or any other software product based on voice data in the Uzbek language.

Totally, more than 350 applications from all over Uzbekistan were submitted to the hackathon, of which 48 teams were formed, and 27 teams went to the final demonstration of projects in front of the hackathon jury. 

Among the participants were:

  • 50% programmers;
  • 21% project managers;
  • 12% designers.

The contestants got the opportunity to implement their project and develop a minimum viable product with the help of artificial intelligence experts.

8 highly qualified specialists in the field of artificial intelligence helped the participants to create products. 

According to the results of the jury's evaluations, the winners of the hackathon were:

  • 1st place: the team “Tzeentch” – the voice assistant “Alisaxon”, which helps to recognize the anxiety of a person’s voice by the trigger word and quickly provide assistance;

  • 2nd place: the team “Cookies” – a site for quick translation and voice acting into Uzbek in real time, any video from You Tube;

  • 3rd place: the team “OʻzbekSado” – a system for quick and simplified calling an ambulance using voice.

The three best projects received valuable prizes in the form of equipment from the organizers (1st place – HP Victus laptops; 2nd place – Apple tablets (iPad); 3rd place – Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro smartphones).
