A delegation of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, led by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, as well as representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan headed by CEO Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, are on a working visit to the United States.
As part of the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Dr. William B. Poucher, President of the ICPC Foundation and Executive Director of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), to discuss opportunities for strategic cooperation in digital education, talent development, and international academic collaboration.
The parties discussed expanding cooperation in programming education, competitive programming initiatives, talent development, and fostering deeper international academic partnerships — reinforcing Uzbekistan’s commitment to building a globally competitive IT and innovation ecosystem.
Key areas of discussion
During the meeting, the sides explored the launch of joint initiatives aimed at advancing artificial intelligence, algorithmic research, software engineering competencies, computational technologies, and participation of Uzbek students in global competitive programming contests.
Strengthening academic leadership in Central Asia
The initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s long-term strategy to enhance international cooperation in digital education and establish a world-class environment for IT learning, research, and innovation. Collaboration with ICPC — the world’s most prestigious programming contest — supports this mission by connecting Uzbek students and universities with leading global academic institutions.
MOU signed to expand ICPC cooperation and develop joint initiatives in Uzbekistan
As a result of the discussions, the parties agreed to develop a joint roadmap for expanding ICPC programs in Uzbekistan and strengthening the organization’s presence in Central Asia.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed, outlining cooperation on educational and research initiatives and discussing the development of a partnership with ICPC, with major joint initiatives expected to be implemented in Uzbekistan.
