Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conference 2024: Strengthening Global ITES Partnerships

The Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conference, held on April 23 in Berlin, underscored significant developments in the global IT industry, particularly highlighting Uzbekistan's strategic position in the IT outsourcing and BPO sectors. The event attracted over 50 participants from these fields, including more than 25 exporting companies, reflecting a growing international interest in Uzbekistan’s IT capabilities.

The conference opened with a welcome speech by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany, Dilshod Akhatov, who emphasized the importance of information technology for economic development and international cooperation. Farkhod Ibragimov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, delivered a detailed speech on current initiatives and strategies for developing the IT industry in Uzbekistan. He focused on improving infrastructure and creating favourable conditions for foreign investments. It was also noted that the country is aiming to strengthen its position as a reliable and attractive centre for outsourcing and software development on the world stage.

Felix Lammers from Plug and Play added significance to his presentation, providing examples of the success of Uzbek technology companies and demonstrating their competitiveness globally. He highlighted that Uzbek IT companies are not only participating but are also competing successfully on the international level.

Additionally, Alexey Kuznetsov, SAP Practice Leader at EPAM Germany, highlighted the exceptional potential of Uzbekistan's talent market as a distinct competitive advantage. He emphasized the proficiency and eagerness for new knowledge among local professionals.

Strategic initiatives such as the "Zero Risk Program" and the "Regional Headquarters Program" were discussed, aimed at attracting foreign investment and reinforcing Uzbekistan’s role as a hub in Central Asia for IT development. These programs, combined with the government's supportive stance, offer significant incentives for businesses looking to enter the Uzbek market.

This conference fosters economic development, opens new opportunities for cooperation in IT, and promotes technological progress that benefits both countries. By fostering such international partnerships, Uzbekistan positions itself as a competitive and attractive destination for global IT outsourcing, aiming to make a significant impact on the global stage.

In recent years, the landscape of international IT outsourcing has undergone significant changes. For instance, previous initiatives by the German government have created 50,000 jobs for Uzbek nationals, demonstrating a sustained commitment to strengthening economic and technological ties between the two countries. Moreover, at the moment there are 12 companies in Uzbekistan that export IT services to Germany, as well as about 10 companies with German capital. This collaboration provides a backdrop for discussing potential growth and investment opportunities explored during the conference.
