Berlin Economics discusses prospects for cooperation with IT Park Uzbekistan

Representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, led by Sarvar Vokhidov, Head of European Services Export, held a meeting with a delegation from Berlin Economics, headed by Woldemar Walter, Project Leader of the German Economic Team. The meeting was dedicated to exploring avenues for strengthening institutional cooperation and supporting the advancement of Uzbekistan’s IT sector, including the development of its startup ecosystem.

Berlin Economics is a German consulting firm specializing in economic research and strategic advisory services for government entities. Through the German Economic Team (GET) project, the company provides support to countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Western Balkans. Its key areas of expertise include macroeconomics, private sector development, foreign trade, energy, and digital transformation. Headquartered in Berlin, the company maintains active collaboration with leading economic institutions in Germany and across the European Union.

During the meeting, the parties engaged in a substantive discussion on the current state and ongoing development of Uzbekistan’s IT sector, its contribution to the national economy, and key priorities such as outsourcing and the export of IT-enabled services (ITeS). Particular attention was given to market entry opportunities, the scope of government support, and the development of a skilled talent base.  

The discussion also covered pressing issues related to employment within the IT sector, including the creation of new job opportunities and enhancing transparency in labor conditions. Participants exchanged views on wage dynamics, the upskilling of professionals, and the promotion of self-employment as a viable form of professional activity.

Berlin Economics representatives commended the existing support mechanisms and tax incentives available to IT Park Uzbekistan members. The conversation also included discussions on the advancement of education, collaboration with higher education institutions, and the promotion of STEM education among youth.

Partnership with Berlin Economics opens new avenues for positioning Uzbekistan’s IT sector on the international stage. Such cooperation is expected to enhance the country’s export potential, improve the overall business environment, and support ongoing reforms aimed at fostering digital economy and boosting the export capacity of IT Park Uzbekistan members.
