ICT Ministry delegation paid a working visit to Baku

From May 24 to May 27, a delegation of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister Jamshid Egamberdiev, paid a working visit to Baku, Azerbaijan.

The visit purpose was to participate in the ICT ministers meeting within the Organization of Turkic States and attend TEKNOFEST.

The TEKNOFEST Aerospace Technology Festival has been held annually since 2018 by the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Turkish Technology Team Foundation. This year, the festival was hosted outside of Turkey for the first time.  The event was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey and the Technology Team Foundation of Turkey.

The festival featured modern innovative technologies and solutions in aviation, space and digital technologies of Azerbaijan and Turkey. The participants got acquainted with the activities of the Azerbaijan E-Government Development Center. During the meeting, the parties agreed on a regular exchange of experience and cooperation between Uzbek and Azerbaijani specialists in e-government development.

Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Hungary were among the invited countries. The festival was full for various events like contests, hackathons and youth championships.

On the second half of the day, a special meeting of ICT ministers of the Organization of Turkish States took place. The Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev delivered the opening statement. The Secretary General of the Turkic States Organization, Baghdad Amreyev, chaired the meeting.

The speeches of Uzbekistan’s representatives touched upon the wide-scale measures that have been taken to develop information and communication technologies, including digital infrastructure as part of the Digital Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy.

During the talks, the parties discussed developing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of ICT between the member states of the Organization of Turkic States, the formation of a unified system for registering mobile devices between member states, a project to create a catalog of digital innovations and other issues.
