On June 27, 2023, at the Ministry of Economy and Finance in a hybrid format took place the annual Project Council meeting on "Expanding Youth Opportunities for Developing the Digital Economy and Digital Entrepreneurship".
The aim of the meeting was to approve the project's annual work plan for 2023. The meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials, including representatives from government and international organizations.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan, Rahel Boesch, and the Resident Representative of the UNDP in Uzbekistan, Matilda Dimovska.
Following the introductory speeches, a presentation of the project's annual work plan for 2023 was conducted by Usmon Rakhimzhanov, Deputy Head of the Inclusive Employment Program. The plan included various activities and initiatives aimed at developing the digital economy and digital entrepreneurship among youth. Besides that, there were outlined key strategic directions, goals, and objectives of the project for the year along with planned timelines and expected outcomes.
After the presentation, proposals for collaboration in 2023 were presented by various organizations and experts, including the Deputy of the Generak Director of IT Park for the development of digital education, Makhliyo Muksinova, the Chairman of the Venture Capital Association (UzVCA), Dilshod Zufarov, an investment specialist from Plug and Play Uzbekistan, Rano Siddikova, the Head of Startup Ecosystem Development Department at the Agency for Innovative Development, Azizbek Ilkhamov, and others.
The representative from IT Park provided statistics regarding the number of graduates in IT specialties, the accessibility and quality of educational programs in the field of information technology, and shared data on the demand for IT specialists in the job market.
Makhliyo Muksinova also proposed ideas for improving IT education, attracting more youth to acquire IT skills, and creating innovative educational programs.
Furthermore, the future state of digitization in the world and its impact on Uzbekistan were analyzed, along with an assessment of trends and prospects for the development of the information technology sector.
In the final stage of the meeting, proposals and plans for collaboration between government and international organizations, knowledge sharing, creating innovative educational programs, and supporting young entrepreneurs in 2023 were discussed.
