A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Digital Technologies Mr. Sherzod Shermatov and Services Export Development Director at IT Park Uzbekistan Ms. Makhliyo Muksinova, undertook an official visit to Japan aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of IT outsourcing, digital technologies, and education, as well as establishing the representative office of IT Park Uzbekistan in Tokyo.
The opening ceremony took place on May 13 in Akihabara — Tokyo’s renowned technology and creative industry district. The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan, Mr. Mukhsin Abdurakhmonov, Minister Shermatov, Ms. Muksinova, and Chairman of the Board of Digital Knowledge, Mr. Hiroaki Haga. The newly established office will serve as a strategic hub for direct engagements with Japanese businesses, promoting joint initiatives in outsourcing, investment, and IT education.
Digital Knowledge: Collaboration in Education
As part of the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between IT Park Uzbekistan and Digital Knowledge, setting out joint initiatives for attracting Japanese enterprises to the Uzbek market and developing educational programs.
Founded in 2007, Digital Knowledge specializes in IT services, IT education, and the provision of qualified personnel. The company is the founding institution of Japan Digital University in Uzbekistan, which currently enrolls over 620 students, offering IT disciplines in parallel with instruction in the Japanese language.
The event concluded with a panel session featuring leading Japanese companies such as Trusted Corporation, Agekke, JETRO, and Toppan Digital. Discussions focused on the prospects of cooperation between Japanese and Uzbek IT companies. The keen interest demonstrated by Japanese participants reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s growing significance as a regional technology hub in Central Asia.
