IT Park will receive a $4.5 million grant from KOICA to develop the organization’s potential

On December 16, 2021, as part of a working visit to Seoul, South Korea, the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, met with the Deputy President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Im Chjon Xi. IT Park director Farkhod Ibrahimov and others also took part in the meeting.





During the meeting, the parties discussed the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the field of ICT, the implementation of new projects to support start-ups, the further development of cooperation with Korean technology parks on the development of the start-up ecosystem and the field of ICT, including through improved incubation and acceleration programmes.

In addition, KOICA and IT Park conducted negotiations in the framework of building the foundations of stable prosperity and increasing the potential of IT Park. During the meeting, the Protocol of Discussion on the project «Formation of the Foundations of Stable Development and Increase of Potential of IT Park of the Republic of Uzbekistan» was also signed.

Accordingly, KOICA will be awarded a grant of US$4.5 million.







The implementation of this project will allow:

1. To increase the effectiveness of IT Park as an organization for the realization of the strategy «Digital Uzbekistan - 2030» and to contribute to the development of IT and start-up industry in Uzbekistan;

2. Upgrade and improve the computer equipment and network infrastructure of the IT Park Central Office, including server equipment, in accordance with the expansion and development of IT Park in the regions;

3. To enhance digital literacy and IT skills among ICT professionals from all regions of Uzbekistan by organizing training and educational activities in IT Park with the support of Korean specialists;

4. Upgrading skills through highly effective ICT management training, as well as training and internships in South Korea;

5. Establish cooperation between IT Park residents and leading Korean IT companies to optimize costs and competition in foreign markets through technology transfer, development of joint software products and outsourcing of IT services.
