New perspectives of cooperation with EPAM Systems

During the period from March 4 to 7 of this year, a delegation of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, including the CEO of IT Park Farkhod Ibragimov, is on a working visit to the United States of America.

The purpose of the visit is to strengthen cooperation with international organizations and companies, as well as attract foreign companies to Uzbekistan, increase IT exports, create new jobs and actively support the expansion of Uzbek companies into foreign markets.

As part of the visit, on March 5, the delegation met with EPAM Systems Vice President for Technology Solutions Chris Layer and Vice President for Public Sector Anna Danegger.

Considering that EPAM is the world's largest IT educational company, the minister invited company representatives to expand educational activities in Uzbekistan. He emphasized the need for the company's contribution to achieve the goal of training 65 thousand IT specialists needed by our country next year. In particular, the need was noted to focus on training personnel in areas specializing in artificial intelligence. EPAM representatives noted that when organizing popular educational courses, the company has the necessary potential to attract its specialists. The possibilities of attracting financing from the World Bank and the IMF for this project were discussed.

Considering that EPAM has extensive experience in implementing projects in the field of e-government, the minister proposed creating a center of specialists in e-government development in Uzbekistan. The talk was about creating a laboratory in Uzbekistan for the development of products and services for use in e-government projects for subsequent export to other countries.

At the end of the meeting, EPAM representatives noted that they would discuss the proposed ideas with the company’s senior management regarding the timing and a more detailed assessment of the resources required for their implementation. It was decided to discuss subsequent meetings in the relevant working groups on both sides.

EPAM Systems, founded in 1993, is currently active in more than 40 countries, employs more than 52,650 people and has a capitalization of $28.1 billion. It has been repeatedly included in Forbes and Fortune's list of fastest-growing technology companies.

The company began its activities in Uzbekistan in 2019 and is currently one of the leading residents of IT Park. It provides high-tech software development services for overseas markets. Together with EPAM Systems, the first online university, IT Park University, was launched in Uzbekistan, which focuses on practical knowledge in the IT field.
