Open Data Challenge will be held in Tashkent

IT Park, in cooperation with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan and the IT company Virtual Group, with the support of The Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Anti-Corruption Agency and Akfa University will organize the Open Data Challenge hackathon, which will be held from January 27 to 29.

Open Data Challenge is an annual competition for the development of technological solutions using open data. The hackathon aims to develop and increase the interest of citizens in the use of open data.

The objectives of this contest are the development of a professional community in the subject area; development of relevant competencies of representatives of state and municipal authorities, as well as hackathon participants; realization of the social and economic potential of state and municipal open data.

In 2023, it is planned to hold a contest preliminary in 4 areas:

  • government sector;
  • social sector;
  • business sector;
  • anti-corruption.

Additionally, it is planned to hold special workshops for hackathon participants in areas with involved experts on the use of open data. Before the start of the hackathon, participants will have 4 webinars in the directions and 1 open data workshop. Webinar and workshop dates will be announced later.

The participants of the contest are required to:

  • fully participate in all events (4 webinars will be held online and 1 workshop will be offline; the Open Data Challenge hackathon itself will be held offline);
  • create a digital solution (application, service, device) using open data during the event with uploading the code to GitHub;
  • both individual and team applications are accepted. No more than three people can participate in a team, one of which must submit a team application for participation. Individual applicants may team up on the first day of the hackathon.
