The IT Park delegation successfully completed business trip to Japan from July 16 to 22. The main purpose of the trip was to present the IT potential of Uzbekistan and to familiarize Japanese entrepreneurs with the opportunities for doing business in the country with the help of the unprecedented programs and benefits offered by IT Park.
As part of the trip, a meeting was held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan, Mr. Mukhsinhuja Abdurakhmanov, where the themes of attracting leading Japanese IT companies to Uzbekistan and cooperation in the field of IT-outsourcing were discussed.
The delegation held meetings with representatives of Japanese companies and organizations such as SRA.Inc, Center of the International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC), Astraea Software Co., Ltd, CAL CO., LTD, Phoenix7.Inc, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
The main purpose of these meetings was to attract Japanese companies to open branches and representative offices in Uzbekistan to serve their head offices.
During the negotiations, prospects for further cooperation in the field of IT export, implementation of joint projects in the digital economy, support for entrepreneurs, development of IT education and a startup ecosystem were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the entry of leading Japanese companies into the Uzbek market. Several representatives from among Japanese companies, including CAL CO. LTD and Software Research Associates Inc, have expressed their intention to arrive in Uzbekistan in the near future in order to open offices and branches. One such company was Densan Corp, which already has a successful experience of working with international offices, including an office in Myanmar. The Head of the enterprise plans to visit Tashkent in October for the possible opening of a branch in Uzbekistan. Note that the total capital of the three above-mentioned companies is $1.5 billion.
The possibility of attracting Uzbek professionals to develop software products and games as outsourcing is also of great interest. Japanese companies expressed their readiness to consider opportunities for cooperation with talented Uzbek IT professionals.
It is noteworthy that negotiations are currently underway with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to conclude a memorandum of mutual cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan to develop export potential in the field of IT-services, which will create new high-paying jobs for local professionals.
Additionally, the delegation, jointly with the residents of IT Park: ProximaOps, StartSoft, Innovate Tech Zone and IT-Bilim, took part in the international exhibition “Japan IT-Week”, where they presented the IT potential and capabilities of Uzbekistan, as well as software solutions, products and services for training of IT-specialists, developed by these residents.
During the exhibition, various new programs that have already been developed or were under development were presented. The visitors were particularly interested in the Zero Risk program, designed to attract export-oriented companies to the regions of Uzbekistan. The Executive Director of IT Park, Abdulahad Kuchkarov, spoke in detail about the unprecedented program and gave examples of how it can be beneficial for companies opening offices in the regions of the country.
According to the information provided, companies opening offices in the regions of Uzbekistan will receive significant support from IT Park. Support will include HR services and payment of 15% of the salary of employees of these companies from the IT park. Additionally, IT Park will cover the rent and help purchase the necessary equipment for the company.
