IT Park together with the World Bank, the State Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OSCE Project Co-Ordinator in Uzbekistan, the World Bank, the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan will hold from hackathon titled “Open Data Challenge 2019”, December 13 to 15 , 2019.
From October 1 to December 1, 2019, applications submitting process has been opened, and during this period almost 400 applications were received!
Small statistics on applications showed that most of them are freelancers and representatives of the private sector (21%), then students of the Tashkent University of Information Technology and Inha University in Tashkent (17% each), Torino Polytechnic University in Tashkent (9% ), Amity University in Tashkent (5%), International Westminster University in Tashkent (2%), academic lyceum at the International Westminster University in Tashkent, as well as other universities (24%).
The division by specialty showed that 68% of applicants are programmers, 9% are marketers, 7% are designers, 4% are product managers, 4% are universal employees and 8% are representatives of other professions.
The most popular direction of the competition was open data for the social sector (30%), the second most popular was the public sector (29%), then business (23%) and data transformation and generation (18%).
The “Open Data Challenge 2019” hackathon is an annual competition for developing applications using open data.
The objectives of this competition are:
- development of a professional community in the subject area;
-development of relevant competencies of representatives of state and municipal authorities, as well as hackathon participants;
- implementation of the social and economic potential of state and municipal open data.
The main condition of the competition is the creation of a digital solution (application, service, device) using open data during the event.
