The opening of the center will reduce the gender gap in technology and increase the level of digital literacy of women and youth in Uzbekistan.
“It is very important for the republic to pay attention to women specialists. By educating a woman, we get an educated family. Because mothers can pass on knowledge to children. Today, the participation of women in ICT is only 33%. But the ministry is working on it,” – Oleg Pekos said in his speech.
Natalia Mochu stressed that the date of the opening of this center was chosen for a reason – the event was timed to coincide with the day of women in ICT.
“The project was initiated in 2019 before the pandemic. We went through all the difficulties with this project, and today we are finally opening the center. We hope to attract many women to this field. We thank our partners, without whom we would not have been able to succeed.”
The speakers of the event were IT-activists of Uzbekistan. They talked about how they came to the IT-field, about their experience in this area.
IT-Center for women was opened on the basis of IT-ACADEMY. Director of IT Park Farhod Zairovich Ibragimov noted that the academy – the most visited center out of all 205 IT Park centers.
“The Center has the highest rate of employment of graduates. The skills that the girls will get here will help them earn money even when they are at home as freelancers. We hope that in the near future we will open even more new opportunities for women.”
