Esports is gaining more and more supporters. Video game competitions are becoming popular in many countries, and the development of a young direction is facilitated by a number of factors, including technological progress, the quality of the Internet and the interest of young people in games.
In Uzbekistan, computer sports became a separate area not so long ago: just 5 months ago, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev decided to recognize cybersport as an independent sport and take measures for its development. The Head of State outlined the holding of national and international tournaments and championships. The document also states that, starting from 2023, three cybersports competitions will be held annually in Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan Esports Championship; Youth Cup Tournament and Cabinet of Ministers Cup Tournament.
As a practical proof of the tasks set, on May 7, the grand final of the Uzbekistan Esports Championship was held with a prize fund of 332 million soums.
The tournament was organized with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the IT Park Directorate, the Uzbekistan Cybersport Association, and the Cybersport Federation.
The purpose of the tournament is to increase the motivation of e-sports gamers to acquire and improve skills in the field of e-sports, as well as to widely popularize this area and unite gamers into a single system.
Director of the Agency for Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan Alisher Sadullaev spoke at the event, who noted with satisfaction the growing role of cybersports in Uzbekistan.
“Even in remote areas of our republic, there are people who constantly and actively play, creating teams in all types of cybersports. We are glad that through you we are starting to realize the potential of our youth, guide them in the right path and thus protect the honor of our country in the international arena”.
More than 1,500 observers were also present during the tournament, who had the opportunity to get autographs from stimmers and e-sports gamers with high ratings in their areas.
The competition was attended by 20 teams from the regions in the directions of CS: GO, DOTA2, PUBG Mobile and 16 gamers in the directions of FIFA, eFootball.
The tournament was held on the Cybergame.uz platform in such esports disciplines as CS: GO, DOTA2, PUBG Mobile, FIFA, eFootball.

The winners received certificates and memorable gifts from the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov. Also, a group of finalists in each direction got the opportunity to enter the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports without exams.
