The Republican contest “mGovAward” opening ceremony takes place

Today, on September 26, 2019, the official opaening ceremony of  “mGovAward” - the republican competition among university students to develop the best state mobile applications took place in NEC “Uzexpocenter”.

“mGovAward” is the first nationwide contest taking place in Uzbekistan to create state mobile applications that is being organized in cooperation with UAE partners.  The aim of the competition is to develop and strengthen the potential of higher educational institutions students to IT products and support their initiatives related to information and communication technologies.

The fields students are requested to develop mobile applications are as follows: education, healthcare, tourism and culture, entrepreneurship, transport and logistics.

The main criteria for selecting projects will be: effectiveness of the future application, its innovativeness and ease of use.

Today, during the conference, specially dedicated to the opening of the mGovAward, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the Minister for Government and Future Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Gergawi, announced the launch of the mGovAward contest.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan noted the dynamic growth Uzbek and UAE relations in public administration, IT education system, and generating positive environment for the new “digital” projects development.

His Excellency Muhammad al-Gergawi spoke about the successful experience of organizing events to develop innovative projects, about the prospects for cooperation with Uzbekistan, as well as noted the special importance of such republican contests.

Parallelly, today, the timeline of the contest has been declared in the ceremony:

September 26 – Start of participants registration

October 2 to November 30 – contest coverage in regions

December 1 to January 1, 2020 – Call for applications from students

January 2 to February 28 - Selection of applications

March 12-13, 2019 – Presentations days

March 14 - Award ceremony

The total prize fund of the contest is $100,000, from which $50,000 will go to the first place, $30,000 to the second, and $20,000 to the third.
