The U.S. ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum visited IT Park

On June 9, a delegation of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan headed by Ambassador Daniel Rosenblum visited IT Park.

The visit pursued the goal of strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and the U.S. in IT and BPO.

The Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov, CEO of IT Park Farhod Ibragimov, Advisor to the CEO of IT Park on the international relations Bohodir Ayupov, CEO of Astrum Academy Botir Arifjanov and others attended the meeting.

Minister Sherzod Shermatov acquainted the guests with the layout of the IT Park project, explaining what work has been done over the past 2 years, the initial stage of construction work and plans for its expansion for the next 2 years. The members of the delegation also got acquainted with the construction works of the first stage of construction of the IT Park complex.

Bohodir Ayupov made a presentation on focus areas of IT Park. He spoke about the support and initiatives that come from the government of Uzbekistan for the development of the IT sector in the economy, the human capital and potential of the Central Asian region, and the young population of Uzbekistan, around which the entire strategy to improve this industry is being implemented. During the presentation, speaker noted tax preferences granted for IT Park resident companies along with an increase in export volumes. 80% of these companies actively export services to the US market.

Meeting participants considered the government support for the development of IT and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and the task set by the President of Uzbekistan on measures to further develop a positive business climate. The sides discussed the free economic zone that IT Park provides to its resident companies, the work to reform IT education and create a critical mass of young IT professionals as well.

The guests got acquainted with the Tumaris Tech project to support women in IT. The project won in the ‘Capacity Building’ category of the WSIS 2022 World Summit on the Information Society.

In addition, CEO of Astrum Academy Botir Arifjanov described the educational complex ‘Astrum Academy’ and its main activities.

Summing up the meeting, Daniel Rosenblum noted the openness and trust that were established at the meeting, and stressed the importance of further constructive dialogue to strengthen partnership.
