On June 4-6, the U.S. Trade Mission in Tashkent held official meetings with representatives of U.S. IT companies as part of its visit.
In particular, on June 5, a panel session was held at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent Hotel, which was attended by the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov. He told representatives of U.S. companies about the IT attractiveness of Uzbekistan, the large-scale reforms being carried out in this area in the country, and the work being done to transform Uzbekistan into a regional IT hub.
During the panel session, special attention was paid to the issues of establishing close cooperation with leading U.S. companies. At the end of the main part of the session, B2G and B2B meetings were held with representatives of the U.S. business community.
On the same day, representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and IT Park met with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) Senior Director of Customer Service Hamid Haktan Ishchi. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence development, the creation of new jobs and the possibility of opening a regional SAS representative office in Uzbekistan.
SAS is one of the worldʼs largest private IT companies specializing in the development and sale of business intelligence solutions and services. The company was founded in 1976 and today serves over 70,000 customers.
A meeting was also held with the founder of Peoplehive, Pawan Abraham, who showed interest in cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and education. During the meeting, issues of cooperation were discussed, including the use of artificial intelligence in medicine and the possibility of opening a university in Bukhara.
Peoplehive is a global educational consulting company covering various regions including Central Asia. The main mission of the company is to provide opportunities for English-speaking foreign students through educational programs.
Additionally, negotiations were held with Olga Skorokhodova, Head of Google's public policy department. Foreign colleagues were told about the activities of IT Park, favorable conditions created for resident companies, and opportunities for foreign companies. Attention at the meeting was paid to the development of the IT and BPO sectors of Uzbekistan, as well as to improving the skills of local specialists.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan is actively investing in the development of information technologies, considering them a key factor in economic growth and improving the lives of the population. The meetings also confirm the interest of foreign companies in cooperation with Uzbek partners in the development of this industry.
