Computer vision AI challenge hackathon results announced

On June 24-26, Tashkent University of Information Technologies hosted a hackathon on artificial intelligence.

The event was organized by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, IT Park, the Research Institute for the Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi and UNDP Uzbekistan.

In total, 290 people from all over Uzbekistan registered to participate in the hackathon, 50%- participants from the regions, the other 50% - contestants from Tashkent.

Percentage of participants:
 • 63% coders
 • 26% managers
 • 11% designers.

They have united into 48 teams. 39 made it to the final stage.

As part of the hackathon, the contestants had to create a product prototype, while using artificial intelligence and computer vision in their project, and provide solutions to an existing problem.

The hackathon winners:
 1st rank — “AKIRA” team (Automation of waste sorting using computer vision and artificial intelligence);
 2nd rank — “Neural Hardwork” team (special vehicle recognition system);
 3rd rank - "Imperia" (sign language translator).

Hackathon was an opportunity for implementing initiatives and developing an MVP with an assistance of IT experts. The event  also served as a platform for like-minded people.

The three of the best projects received valuable prizes.
