EU delegation led by the Special Representative for Central Asia visited IT Park

On October 20, a delegation of the European Union led by the Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala visited IT Park Uzbekistan complex.

The delegation was received by the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov.  He acquainted the guests with the activities of the organization, tax preferences and benefits provided for local and international companies, and also spoke about the results achieved in terms of exporting IT services, projects in the field of IT-education and the development of IT-infrastructure in the republic.

During the meeting, Sherzod Khotamovich told the representatives of the delegation about the advantages of Uzbekistan as a new BPO-location, emphasizing the presence in the country of all the necessary conditions and the support provided by the government. Thus, the legislation corresponding to international standards, the necessary modern infrastructure, tax and customs benefits, as well as the development of education in the field of IT and others were mentioned.

In turn, Teri Hakala noted the growing investment and human potential of Uzbekistan. She added that thanks to the conditions created in the country aimed at the development of IT in Uzbekistan, many European companies and investors are interested in entering the countryʼs market and finding local partners.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand and strengthen mutually beneficial partnership in the field of economics and information and communication technologies.
