In recent years, Uzbekistan has paid special attention to the position of women in society. Thus, various projects are being created to support women's entrepreneurship and educate women, trainings are held and much more.
The IT sector is also not left unattended - projects are being created in the country to involve girls and women in the in-demand IT industry and events are being held that are designed to show that women can also work in this area.
One of such projects is the IT club for women “GAP”, initiated by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications in partnership with IT Park.
The GAP project is aimed at attracting women to the field of information technology. The mission of the club is to support women, increase their IT literacy and provide them with opportunities for training and employment in the field of IT.
Within the framework of the club, two meetings have already been held in Tashkent, where girls and women spoke about their successes in the field of IT and inspired the invited guests with their example. The long-awaited third meeting took place on October 8 - this time the project partner was the Ministry of Sports Development of Uzbekistan.
In order to expand the geography of activities, the event was moved to the Tashkent region - the meeting was held in the BPO center of the city of Chirchik.
A new meeting within the club was devoted to the current topic of freelancing and its possibilities. In the official part of the meeting, Kamola Sobirova, Advisor to the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications on the issues of attracting young people and women to the IT sector, as well as promoting Uzbekistan as a regional IT hub, and Deputy Governor of Tashkent region, Head of the Department for women and family affairs, Zukhra Mirgazieva delivered a speech.
Further, within the framework of the program, Makpal Nadirova, Khozharbu Khaitmetova and Fazliddin Tajibaev spoke.
Makpal Nadirova is the manager of Chirchik IT Center. She told the guests about the direction of BPO and its advantages, as well as about her experience in freelancing.
Freelancer and website developer Khozharbu Khaitmetova shared her experience and talked about popular freelance platforms in her speech. She tried to draw attention to how programming can affect and improve all aspects of life, because in programming you can apply your knowledge in the field of interest, not limited to one area or direction.
“In programming, new directions and technologies are constantly being developed, and a programmer is always working on himself and developing professionally. This increases a personʼs self-confidence and contributes to the further growth of his income. Anyone can work in this area. All you need to do is master the profession and start your activity in conditions convenient for you”, – the girl noted.
Specialist of the Digital Economy Research Center Fazliddin Tajibaev told the club members about e-commerce, methods of selling on large sites and how to use eBay and Amazon.
“In the regions, most of our women have the opportunity to cut and sew at home. Through major international platforms such as eBay and Amazon, these women are able to bring their products to global e-commerce markets. I hope that my presentation was useful to the participants of todayʼs meeting. In my presentation, I spoke about what should be paid attention to so that in the future women can increase their income in the field of e-commerce through digital technologies” – said Fazliddin.
The unofficial part of the program, like last time, included sports activities - relay races and table tennis.
