IT Park and ADB implement projects in education

On February 15, IT Park Uzbekistan office was visited by representatives of the Asian Development Bank. The delegation included: Mr. Eisuke Tajima, Education Specialist, Social Sector Division, Central and West Asia Division Farida Dzhumabayeva, Gender and Social Development Specialist of the Resident Mission in Uzbekistan and Project Manager, Project Specialist (Education and Skills Development) Navbakhor Sharipova.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss joint projects to develop the level of education in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Deputy Director for Education Development Makhliyo Muksimova welcomed guests, Head of the Department of International Relations Nigora Mirjalilova and Chief Manager for International Relations Sarvar Vohidov. They acquainted the Bankʼs delegation with the layout of the IT Cluster project, told what work had been done over the past 2 years, and also shared plans to expand construction work for the next 2 years.

Makhliyo Muksinova made a presentation on the main areas of IT Park, namely: about the support and initiatives that come from the government of Uzbekistan for the development of the IT sector in the economy, about human capital and the potential of the Central Asian region, as well as about the young population of Uzbekistan, around which  the entire strategy for improving this industry is being implemented.

During the meeting, government support for the development of IT and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and the task set by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on measures to further develop a favorable business climate were considered. The parties discussed the free economic zone that IT Park provides to its resident companies, the work to reform IT education and create a critical mass of young IT specialists, as well as programs launched in IT Park – in particular, projects to involve women in IT and  startup projects.

Mr. Eisuke Tajima noted the potential of Uzbekistan in terms of human capital in the IT field. He stressed that the IT sector in Uzbekistan is developing rapidly and noted the importance of cooperation with the Asian Development Bank in the implementation of education development projects.
