IT Park held a hackathon “Hack4Region” for the youth of the Republic of Karakalpakstan!

From 17 to 19 December 2021, the “Hack4Region” hackathon was held in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The main organizers are IT Park, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Edunomics LLC, and the Nukus branch of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies.

Hack4Region is a hackathon in which participants were given 3 days to develop a product that solves a problem in one of the following areas:

 

 - Artificial Intelligence;

 - the medicine;

 - energy;

 - agriculture and water management;

 - building;

 - education;

 - social protection;

 - employment.

In just three days, specially invited experts and mentors helped and guided the participants, showing them the most effective and fastest way to implement a project prototype.

According to statistics, more than 140 applications for participation in the hackathon were received, 23 of which made it to the final and presented their projects.

 At the end of the hackathon, the winners are:

1st place: "Qasimda" - the application is designed to solve the problem of the population by conveniently searching for establishments that are not included in Google maps and will also help you build a convenient route for you.

2nd place: "Smart greenhouse" - the goal of the project is to automate all greenhouses in order to reduce human labor and control plant growth in time.

3rd place: "Bookie" - the first platform for selling audiobooks in Nukus.  In this online library, you can listen to the most popular works of the world and "Karakalpak" literature in audio format.  Also, using the online catalog, the user can order a book without leaving home.  (www.bookie.uz)

 As a result of this hackathon, the participants were able to implement prototypes of their products, find their strengths and weaknesses, and expand their networking.  Such hackathons will help support the startup ecosystem of Uzbekistan and saturate it with new ideas, people and teams.
