On July 16 at 18:00, IT Park hosted a Meetup entitled ‘Startups in top universities: From getting admitted to launching a project’.
The speaker of the meetup, Valera Arakelyan, shared his experience of getting enrolled and studying at leading international university Yale-NUS Collegе, on how he managed to launch the startup of his own Freshman Academy.
The meetup touched upon the startup culture at Ivy League and other prestigious universities. The speaker shared his opinion about studying at a top university, whether it is possible to combine studies with launching a startup.
It brought together over 100 people offline and another 100 online. Valera spoke about his experience at the Ideas4Change Challenge in Geneva, Switzerland, the presentation of his project at the UN Geneva office, the MassChallenge Business Accelerator in Israel under the strict mentorship of the former vice president of eBay and the British Council's Enterpreneurship Challenge.
In addition, Valera noted that it is important for youth in Central Asia to use all the opportunities. As he emphasized, Central Asian countries have all the opportunities put in place for a startup development and personal growth, networking at various events and platforms such as Linkedin.
At the end of the session, participants came together for a coffee break where they could engage in a discussion with like-minded people.
