On September 17, 2020, an online round table was held on the Zoom platform, entitled "Unlocking the potential of digitalization in Uzbekistan against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic."

The event was organized under the auspices of the UNDP technical leadership in the UN system in relation to socio-economic responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan in partnership with IT Park, the World Bank, the Ministry of Health and the University Amity.

The roundtable aims to facilitate consultation on digital transformation among members of the UN country team, the World Bank and their government partners, development agencies, academia, the private sector and civil society, and was organized to take stock of Uzbekistan's digital development gains since 2017. years, discussing the level of efficiency of using digital technologies in Uzbekistan to respond and combat the consequences of COVID-19 and others

Participants in the online round table were: First Deputy Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Oleg Andreevich Pekos, UNDP Resident Representative, Matilda Dimovskaya, Head of the World Bank in Uzbekistan, Marco Mantovanelli, as well as Deputy Director of IT Park for International Affairs , Bohodir Ayupov, Chief Investment Manager, Sasha Sternik and other national and international participants.

During the round table, issues of reform and plans for digital development in the country, the role of women in the IT sector and the start-up ecosystem of the country, the introduction of digital technologies in the learning process and much more were discussed.

As a result, the roundtable participants came to a deeper understanding of the possibilities for better recovery from the consequences of the pandemic in Uzbekistan using digital technologies, supported by proposals to accelerate this process, and also reached an agreement to establish a regular dialogue between national and international stakeholders to exchange views on issues related to the digital transformation of Uzbekistan. Recommendations were also offered to government and development partners to strengthen and accelerate inclusive digital transformation after COVID-19, taking into account international best practices.
