IT Park Uzbekistan Establishes Collaboration with Leaders of Portugal's Startup Ecosystem

During an official visit to Portugal, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, Farkhod Ibragimov, conducted meetings discussions with representatives from Startup Portugal and Build Up Labs to establish cooperative ties and explore the development of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan's startup ecosystem.

Farkhod Ibragimov engaged in discussions with representatives of Startup Portugal, where they explored incubation and acceleration programs to support the development of Uzbek startups, as well as opportunities to adapt successful practices and methodologies to support entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan. The parties discussed the potential for knowledge exchange and professional training programs, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Uzbek startups and facilitating their entry into the global market.

Additionally, they addressed avenues for collaboration on educational programs and events designed to cultivate entrepreneurial skills and increase the number of high-tech startups in Uzbekistan.

Startup Portugal is a prominent non-profit organization established to foster and support entrepreneurship in Portugal. Its mission is to inspire and connect entrepreneurs, collaborating with both public and private stakeholders to build a robust startup ecosystem.

Build Up Labs

Representatives of Build Up Labs, led by CEO Rui Gouveia, met with Farkhod Ibragimov to discuss key areas of collaboration, including startup support programs, the launch of joint startup development initiatives, and the exchange of expertise in technology park development, startup ecosystems expansion, and venture capital investment. The dialogue included discussions on creating tailored programs for Uzbek entrepreneurs, enabling them to meet international market demands and attract attention from foreign investors.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed, solidifying agreements on mentorship and guidance for Uzbek startups and assistance for their entry into European markets.

Mr. Gouveia reaffirmed Build Up Labs’ commitment to providing Uzbek startups with practical support and mentorship as they seek to access the European market, particularly in Portugal, and proposed comprehensive mentoring programs to advance their business models. Additionally, Uzbek startups will have the opportunity to participate in Build Up Labs events, enhancing their networking opportunities, building connections with international investors and venture capital funds, and strengthening their potential for growth and investment attraction.

Functioning also as an incubator, Build Up Labs offers comprehensive support to entrepreneurs throughout all phases of startup growth, utilizing extensive expertise, proven methodologies, and a robust network to maximize the potential for startup success.

These partnerships with Portugal’s leading organizations are expected to provide Uzbek startups with access to international expertise and methodologies that are essential for sustained growth. Joint initiatives encompassing experience sharing and engagement in international programs will help attract investment, elevate Uzbekistan’s innovation capacity, and create new opportunities for high-tech business development within the country.
