Minister of ICT met with World Bank representative

During the visit to the United States, Minister of Information Technology and Communications Development Sherzod Shermatov met with Director of Digital Development at the World Bank Christine Zhenwei Qiang. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Public Education Rustam Karimjonov and CEO of IT Park Farhod Ibragimov.

The parties discussed the implementation of the “Digital Uzbekistan-2030” strategy approved by the Government, which envisages the implementation of a multi-stage ‘umbrella clause’ investment operation “Digital Uzbekistan”.

Special emphasis was placed on tasks set for digitalization within the " New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026".

In addition, the parties exchanged views on the allocation of funds from the International Development Association of the World Bank for Uzbekistan as part of the implementation of the first stage of the project, which includes financing small-scale investment projects called ‘Digital Inclusion in Uzbekistan’.
