On December 17, 2020, at an event dedicated to the celebration of the anniversary of “One Million Uzbek Coders”, Deputy Director of the Dubai Future Foundation (UAE) Abdulaziz Al Jaziri spoke about a new project update - localization of the code.org platform. He noted that now students of elementary grades will have the opportunity to master the professions of the future.
Vice President for International Cooperation of Code.org Leonardo Ortiz in his video message officially announced that Code.org will actively participate in the life of the “One Million Uzbek Coders” project in order to develop creativity in children, logical and algorithmic thinking, the ability to solve problems and teamwork, as well as, other skills needed in the XXI century.
The Code.org platform is free and available for users in the Uzbek language, which removes the language barrier for beginner IT-specialists and allows them to study IT in their native language. The “Express entry” course package has been fully translated into Uzbek. To date, 4,618 users have already registered on the platform from Uzbekistan.
The advantages of the platform are:
- bright content suitable for children;
- a large number of logical tasks for the lessons;
- learning the basics of programming through the game.
Courses on the Code.org platform are being implemented as informatics circles for students in grades 1-7. To date, the courses have been implemented in 100 specialized IT-schools, where 5,000 students in grades 1-8 have been or are being trained, and 3,700 of them have received certificates. The content is designed to create a base in the field of IT and perform tasks, which increases the self-confidence of children and attracts their attention to further study of programming.
After completing the Code.org training, children will be ready for further work and study of the web and object-oriented programming on the “One Million Uzbek Coders” platform.
