Registration for the Open Data Challenge hackathon is closed: statistics

Recently we announced the start of registration for the annual Open Data Challenge hackathon,which is aimed at developing open data in information technology, entrepreneurship and the economy of Uzbekistan.

The registration lasted from November 4 to December 1.  And today we would like to share with you the statistics of accepted applications.

We accepted 616 application for the participation in the hackathon. They are:

Business – 229

Public sector – 98

Social sector – 144

Data transformation and generation – 145

Among the applicants there are representatives of such specialties as:

 Project managers – 204

Designers – 97

Programmers – 315

Moreover, students from schools and universities also applied for the hackathon.  Total number of schoolchildren who applied – 144.

The representatives of universities who registered for the hackathon:

Tashkent University of Information Technologies – 90

Inha University in Tashkent – 41

Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent – 21

 Amity University in Tashkent – 8

 University of World Economy and Diplomacy – 5

 Westminster International University in Tashkent – 5

 Other universities – 188

It should be noted the Open Data Challenge hackathon is organized  by IT Park, in cooperation with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, as well as with the support of the One Million Uzbek Coders program.

Participants will be given a task on developing specific digital solutions (application, service, electronic device) using open data within three days.

Furthermore, during these three days, participants will have the opportunity to attend trainings and master classes of leading experts in open data, as well as work with mentors throughout the hackathon.

 The winners of the hackathon in four areas, as well as the winners in the schoolchildren category, will have the opportunity to complete an intensive acceleration program from IT Park.

The prize fund is $ 40,000.
