The World Bank and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan plan to launch a new Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion project. In this regard, the World Bank delegation, consisting of Senior Digital Development Specialist, Team Leader Sandra Sargent, Senior Digital Development Specialist, project co-leader Mikhail Bunchuk and Transportation Specialist, project co-leader Mansur Bustoni, and led by Acting Global Director and Practice Manager for Digital Development in Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Nicole Klingen arrived in Uzbekistan.
Meetings to discuss promising areas of development were held at the IT Park office from 14 to 17 February.
The parties discussed joint steps to develop and implement the Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion project.
The proposed development goal of the Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion project is to increase access to digital infrastructure and skills for unemployed youth and women to support productive digital inclusion. The project is considered the first phase of a long-term programmatic approach to support the development of the digital economy in accordance with the Digital Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026.
