Startup Weekend cultivates startup ecosystem across Uzbekistan

The Startup Weekend Tashkent community continues its endeavor to foster the startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan, encompassing new cities.

The forthcoming event is slated to take place from August 18th to 20th at Bukhara State University. This hackathon will offer young enthusiasts a unique opportunity to acquire valuable experience, learn from industry professionals, and bring their startup ideas to fruition.

The hackathon is orchestrated by local leaders of the international accelerator company, Techstars, in collaboration with a joint project by UNDP and the Ministry of economy and finance, funded by the Swiss agency for development and cooperation (SDC).

It is also supported by organizations such as Alif Tech, IT Park Uzbekistan, Bukhara State University, IT Park Bukhara, educational centers like Monday Academy and Super Dispatch.

Over the course of three days, participants will develop business plans and create prototypes under the guidance of mentors from the startup, finance, and marketing domains. The event will be moderated by Mahtob Asadova, who has been the leader of Techstars for six years.

On the initial day of the hackathon, participants will receive instructions on the program of the event and present their startup ideas to attract fellow participants to their team. The second day will encompass workshops on MVP and hypothesis testing. Teams will work on prototypes and receive insights from seasoned startup leaders.

The third day is the final one. Teams will present their presentations to panel of judges. Hypothesis testing, business model and market potential will be evaluated. The top three startups will be honored with prizes.
